Recent events—the pandemic, escalating militarism, the surge of fascist and racist activity, the attacks on trans and non-binary members of our communities, to name just a few—have shown us that our movements and lives, while interconnected and growing, are largely alienated from one another. COVID has only made this worse. Achieving our goals requires action, pollination, and community. Connecting and exchanging our ideas and skills is a key part of building those connections.

At Dual Power 2022 we want to foster an atmosphere of generative co-learning and co-creativity. We want to connect people and bring them together around shared work. We want to create a space where ideas are exchanged, stories are told, and futures are imagined, in the context of building and maintaining dual power.

To this end we’ll be gathering information from attendees leading up to our time in the Indiana Dunes (Chicago) to see what we want to talk about and what we can learn from each other. This will give us main themes to focus on and plant poles to organize around. The gathering will be structured as an unconference, and we won’t have a solid schedule going into it. Rather, every morning we’ll collectively create the spaces we want and need to see throughout the day.

To get the ideas rolling, here’s some ideas around what we would like to see:

  • Mapping and growing Dual Power in your area
  • Mapping movements and movement technology on a continent-wide scale
  • Stories around movements across the continent and world
  • Learning and skill shares on trauma, healing, collective grieving, food preservation, lock picking, medic training, etc.
  • Analyzing specific theory and strategies
  • Constructing narratives and building utopian visions

Eventos recientes nos han mostrado que nuestros movimientos y vidas, bien que interconectados y creciendo, en gran parte se han alienado. COVID solamente ha hecho esto peor. Lograr nuestros metas requiere acción, polinización y comunidad. Conectar e intercambiar nuestras ideas y habilidades son una parte clave para construir esas conexiones.

En Dual Power 2022, queremos fomentar una atmósfera de aprendizaje y creatividad cooperativos y generativos. Queremos conectar a gente y reunirla alrededor de nuestro trabajo compartido. Queremos crear un espacio donde ideas son intercambiadas, historias son contadas y futuros son imaginados en el contexto de construcción y mantenencia del poder dual (página en inglés).

Para tal fin, recolectaremos información de asistentes antes de nuestra cita en Indiana Dunes (Chicago) para ver de qué nos queremos hablar y aprender. Esto nos dará temas principales para enfocar y plantar postes sobre cuales podemos organizar. La reunión será estructurada como desconferencia, y no tendremos un horario sólido entrando. Más bien, cada mañana crearemos colectivamente los espacios que queremos y necesitamos ver a través del día.

Para poner las ideas en marcha, aquí están algunas ideas de qué nos gustaría ver:

  • Crecer y trazar mapas de poder dual en su área.
  • Trazar mapas de movimientos y tecnología de movimientos por una escala continental.
  • Historias sobre movimientos a través del continente y del mundo.
  • Aprender y compartir habilidades sobre el trauma, curación y dolor colectiva.
  • Compartir habilidades de preservación de comida, forzar cerraduras y entrenamiento médico.
  • Construir narrativas y visiones utópicas.
